Saving water

Why save water?

Climate change, population increases and changes in lifestyle have led to increasing pressure being put on our water supplies. It's more important than ever that we take care with how much water we use.

Taking small steps now can help to ensure that there is enough water to go around: for our neighbourhoods, for our businesses and for the environment.

Where does my water come from?

Your water is sourced from Blithfield Reservoir, rivers and groundwater. Periods of low rainfall directly impact the amount of water we can take out of rivers. Groundwater is slower to react to periods of dry weather, but we still rely on the usually wetter winter periods to make sure these sources are replenished.

When we have less winter rainfall and high demands, this causes water levels to drop – meaning less water for water supplies and also for our rivers
